"Klang!"..."Klang!"..."Klang!"... Werftenklang.
Hamburg-Altona. Der Klang der Werften und des Hafens ist allgegenwärtig - mal mehr, mal weniger. In der Nacht hallen die metallischen Klänge besonders intensiv - als würde die Dunkelheit gleich dem Wasser die Schallwellen besonders gut übertragen; es liegt an der Stille und dem Nebel über dem Fluss. Die Geräuschteppiche der Werft und des Hafens dringen durch das offene Fenster in den Raum bis in den Traum ein, wo sie nicht stören, sondern das Gefühl vermitteln, zuhause zu sein. Jedes Schiff, das die Werft verläßt, nimmt einen Traum mit auf die hohe See. Jedes Schiff, das in den Hafen einfährt, bringt einen Traum mit in die Stadt. Der Fluss verbindet die Stadt mit der Welt, die Werft verbindet mit ihrem Klang die Menschen der Stadt mit dem Hafen. Eigentlich ist es nur Lärm; aber ein Lärm, der nicht stört, sondern angenehm vertraut klingt.
"Dang!"... "Dang!"... "Dang!"... Shipyardsound. (Not really to translate:-)
Hamburg-Altona. The sound of the shipyards and the port is pervasively everywhere - sometimes more, sometimes less. At the night the metallic noise resounds particularly intensively - as if the darkness transferred the acoustic waves especially well much in the same way water does; that's because of the silence and the fog over the river. The noisecarpets of the shipyard and the port pass through the open window into the room and right into the dream, where they do not disturb, but transmit the feeling to be at home. Each ship, which leaves the shipyard, carries a dream forward onto the high sea. Each ship, which comes into the port, brings with it a dream into the city. The river connects the city with the world, the shipyard connects with its sound the people of the city with the port. Actually it is only noise; but a noise, which does not disturb, but sounds pleasantly familiar.
